Michael Strahan and his co-hosts at Good Morning America are not afraid of a little good-natured banter, and if George Stephanopoulos is around, that’s almost guaranteed.
Michael, 52, and George, 63, had their day on a similar path on the latest iteration of GMAwhen the former jokingly asked the latter which Olympic sport he would win a medal in. Her co-host that day, Linsey Davis, joked it would probably be breakdancing.
Later in the show, when James Alongman was reporting live from Paris on the synchronized swimming, he also joked that George should “put on one of those swimsuits,” which Michael responded to with enthusiastic cheers.
“Don’t hold your breath, James,” the father of two quipped back from the studio, and Michael, who began chanting, “I support that,” ended the segment with, “Oh George, I’ll get you one day!”, causing his co-hosts to giggle.
As the show progressed, George was able to make his quip of the day and his witty comment had Michael and the rest of the team in the studio laughing. GMAs The culture segment presented a more novel cover story: All over the United States, Americans were holding wedding ceremonies where they charged guests admission.
Before the story began, George sat back confidently and began: “Michael is waiting with great interest for our next story. It is our GMA Cover story about how couples save money on their wedding by selling wedding cards.”
Backstage, viewers burst into loud laughter as B-roll footage played and Michael turned to George, unable to contain his own fit of laughter. “Explain everything, Erielle,” George said, drawing attention to her correspondent Erielle Reshef.

Erielle also said giggling: “I’m staying out of it, I don’t know what it is!” while Linsey, who stood in for Robin Roberts, continued to have fun between the two joking presenters.
After presenting this section, the four sat down to discuss the story further. Erielle felt that someone willing to pay to attend a friend’s wedding should simply assume that their “presence is the gift” rather than giving an actual gift.

“I guess they had good friends, none of us were ready,” George joked, and Michael added in response, “I’m looking at this house and I want you to come over and say hello. Will you help me pay for my house?”
Michael has been married twice before, although we assume he didn’t ask his guests to pay for the wedding. From 1992 to 1996, he was married to Wanda Hutchins, with whom he had two children, Tanita and Michael Jr.

George is also married. He married actress and comedian Ali Wentworth in 2001, just months after they met. They have daughters together, Elliott and Harper.
