The Dallas Cowboys had some bad luck with injuries in their game against the New York Giants on Thursday.

Late in the fourth quarter, star linebacker Micah Parsons fell to the turf in obvious pain. Trainers then helped him off the field before he was carried to the locker room with the shoe off his left foot.

Parsons also left the game with one in the second quarter Neck injury and spent some time in the casualty tent, although he managed to return shortly afterwards.

Before the injury, Parsons had two tackles and one tackle for loss. Through the first three games of the season, the fourth-year player has totaled 12 tackles, one sack and one pass deflected.

Parsons was coming off the best season of his career a year ago, recording 64 tackles, a career-high 14 sacks and a forced fumble en route to becoming a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year.

Since being drafted in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Parsons has remained one of the best edge rushers in football, racking up 13 or more sacks in each of his first three seasons. Should the star’s injury force him to miss time on Thursday, it would be a major blow to the Cowboys’ pass-rush defense.

While Parsons’ injury was an unfortunate result of Thursday’s game, Dallas took a step in the right direction with a win over the Giants. The Cowboys won their first game of the year against the Cleveland Browns, but suffered a loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 2 before losing last week’s game to the Baltimore Ravens.

The good news is that Parsons will have more than a week to rest and recover and the Cowboys hope to have him back on the field next week against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
