Miami Marlins make further changes to the roster

It’s already been a busy day for the Miami Marlins. And now it’s about to get even busier! More changes have been made to the roster and we’re going to go over them all now. One of them involves the return of a future superstar to the team. Oh boy. Get ready for a rough ride because we have a lot to cover!

More roster changes for the Miami Marlins.

Let’s start with the best news. SS Xavier Edwards has been activated back from the 10-day injured list!! This is great news as Edwards has posted an incredible .349/.428/.436 batting average with one home run and 17 RBI in 47 games and 172 AB. However, he also has a remarkable 22 stolen bases.

To bolster the depth of the bullpen, the Miami Marlins signed left-hander Anthony Veneziano from the Kansas City Royals. The 27-year-old briefly pitched this season, posting a 4.50 ERA/2.68 FIP, with 9.0 K/9 and 4.5 BB/9 in just 2 games and 2.0 innings pitched. It’s a very, very small sample size, but the strikeout rate and FIP look pretty promising. Let’s hope he has some surprises in store for us when he gets called up to the major leagues.

Another left-handed reliever, Josh Simpson, was recalled from the 15-day IL and demoted to the minors. He actually hasn’t pitched at the major league level yet, despite being called up to the major leagues earlier this season. Right-handed reliever Emmanuel Ramirez was designated for assignment. He has posted a 6.97/4.63 ERA/FIP with 9.1 K/9 and 3.5 BB/9 in 15 games and 20.2 innings pitched. Aside from the strikeout rate, the 30-year-old has been pretty bad.

Left-handed relief pitcher Kent Emanuel has posted a terrible ERA/FIP of 6.62, 6.46, 6.1 K/9, and 3.6 BB/9 in 12 games and 17.2 innings pitched. He was also rightfully called up for a position. Right-handed relief pitcher Anthony Maldonado was called up to the major leagues. He has posted a poor ERA/FIP of 6.23, 4.10, 5.5 K/9, and 3.5 B/9 in 11 games and 13.0 innings pitched this season. The FIP is at least somewhat promising.

Finally, backup C Ali Sanchez was called up. He had a batting average of .167/.211/.190, with 0 home runs and 4 RBI in 31 games and 84 AB this season. In other words, he was awful. I suspect the Miami Marlins aren’t done making roster changes yet.

Next. A pitcher who is struggling makes a bold promise. A pitcher who is struggling makes a bold promise. dark
