Members of famous punk rock band leave the stage due to safety concerns

DETROIT, Michigan — Members of Green Day were forced off the stage during a show at Comerica Park Wednesday night, reportedly due to concerns over the sighting of an unauthorized drone.

Mlive.com reports that the band was in the middle of “Longview,” their fifth song of the night, when someone came onstage and led the lead guitarist away, with the other band members quickly following. Then the lights at Comerica Park turned on and a sign appeared on the video screens that read, “Show paused. Please wait for further details.”

It took about 10 minutes for the band to return to the stage and continue playing in front of an estimated 30,000 fans.

“How are you guys?” said frontman Billie Joe Armstrong upon the band’s return, reports Billboard. “We’re picking up where we left off.” The band did not explain the delay to fans at the show.

The band later apologized for the interruption in a social media post, saying, “Detroit! Sorry for the delay tonight’s show. Stadium security instructed us to vacate the stage while they dealt with a potential safety issue. DPD quickly resolved the situation and we were able to continue. Thank you for your understanding.”

Police told the Detroit Free Press that a person connected to the drone was arrested.
