What’s the trend all about?

The October 1st trend has less to do with posting how excited you are for Halloween and the spooky season and more to do with love.

The new trend is about bragging about your relationship – or longing about wanting to be in a relationship – on TikTok on October 1st to the popular song “We fall in love in October.”

What is the song about?

The song is about falling in love and getting into a relationship with another girl.

The lyrics include: “You look so pretty and I love this view / We fell in love in October / That’s why I love fall.”

Followed by “My girl, my girl, my girl / You’ll be my girl.”

Why did the song go viral?

The song has become a hit for women in a same-sex relationship to express their love for their partner.

Men who are in relationships with women also started posting the trend on TikTok on October 1 as a tribute to their girlfriends.

However, the viral TikTok trend is not just limited to people who are in a relationship.

Most of the October 1 trend videos feature singles looking to get into a relationship so someone can post them on the social media platform.

One person posted a video of themselves scrolling through TikTok saying, “POV: U on October 1st watching stories.”

While another wrote: “I hope I get posted for October 1st” and received more than a million views.

How long has this trend been around?

The October 1st trend has existed since 2023.

The video trend has more than 50.5 million posts on TikTok and billions of views dedicated to love.
