Looking for a second straight win, Florida State football travels to Dallas, Texas to take on SMU.

The Seminoles (1-3) earned the team’s first win of the season, beating Cal 14-9 at Doak Campbell Stadium.

SMU (3-1) defeated TCU 66-42 in week four to improve to 3-1 on the year. Saturday’s game against the Seminoles is the first ACC game for the Mustangs.

FSU left Tallahassee on Thursday, hours before Hurricane Helene hit the Big Bend region of Florida as a major hurricane.

Kickoff for Saturday’s game is scheduled for 8 p.m. in Dallas at Gerald J. Ford Field.

The Seminoles responded to SMU’s opening drive with a clinical seven-play, 75-yard attack to tie the game.

Quarterback DJ Uiagalelei found a wide-open Kentron Poitier in the end zone for the score.

Uiagalelei made a three-pointer from four for 70 yards on the drive. He missed his first pass and then bolted three times in a row. A 50-yard pass to Ja’Khi Douglas brought the Seminoles into the redzone, which Uiagalelei converted.

The Mustangs strike first. Running back Brashard Smith caps an 11-play, 75-yard drive that lasted more than five minutes after halftime.

Quarterback Kevin Jennings completed all three of his passes for 46 yards, with Smith adding 28 rushing yards on five carries.

The Seminoles defense forced three third downs but couldn’t get off the field. SMU rebuilt all three.

FSU announced that senior transfer Richie Leonard IV is opting out of Saturday night’s game against SMU.

Leonard has played in all four games for the Seminoles this season. Jeremiah Byers is expected to be back on the field against the Mustangs after missing three straight games.

Roydell Williams was ruled out earlier this week. FSU head coach Mike Norvell said he will be out for an “extended period.”

It will be around 87 degrees in Dallas before kickoff at 7 p.m. local time.

The sky is clear and the sun is setting as kick-off approaches.

The Seminoles will wear all white for the showdown between the Lone Star State and SMU. This is the first time FSU has worn all-white uniforms this season.

The Mustangs will wear the program’s traditional white helmets, blue jerseys and white pants.
