The crew at Martin Livestock have pulled out all the stops to present an outstanding selection of horses for their 3rd Annual Production and Performance Horse Sale. The number of horses at this sale continues to grow, but more importantly, the quality of horses at this year’s sale far exceeds that of previous years.

The top selling horse was Lot 9, Shrek, a 2017 chestnut gelding, a horse trained in steer wrestling competition with a history of successful transport and winning. Consigned by Bodey Waln and sold for $30,000.

Lot 2, Shady Poco Peppy, 2021 Blue Roan gelding sired by Mr. Doc Poco Peppy x My Blue Casino by David and Lizzie Yoder, sold for $18,000. Very well broken in and gentle 3-year-old. Handsome and an eye catcher.

Lot 7, Yellowstone, 2018 Palomino, sired by Playboy Flit x Peptos Blueprint by Sage and Tyler Byrne, sold for $17,000. Big, handsome top-class ranch horse that started out in show jumping.

Lot 8, Lil Bay, 2017 Bay gelding sired by Paddys Approach x ABRAKADABRACRE. Finished heel horse, tough ranch horse.

The top selling yearling was Lot 20, JM We Be Slick, 2023 chestnut mare sired by Slick By Design x A Streak of Fling by Rollie and CJ Wilson for $13,000. Proven, thoroughbred filly paid or qualified for almost any future.

In conjunction with this year’s Performance and Production Sale, Martin Livestock held its first annual Rope Horse Futurity on August 9. Over 50 horses competed in the heading, heeling and breakaway futurity sponsored by Clark & ​​Associates. The breakaway horse was ridden by Keiley Walz, the heeling horse by Braden Pirrung and the heading horse by Myles Kenzy.
