Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Couples who have been married for 25 or even 50 years opt for pre-wedding and post-wedding style photoshoots. When these older couples tied the knot, there was no concept of pre-wedding or post-wedding shoots. Hence, they organize such shoots during their silver or golden wedding anniversaries.
The shoots for not-so-young couples are similar to those for younger couples, but with some differences. The locations range from indoors to parks, hotels, lakes and picnic spots. The couples are photographed in various poses, enjoying each other’s company and holding hands, while a Bollywood number or western song plays in the background.
“Some couples prefer the retro look. In such cases, the songs are from their era and so is the clothing. Women mostly wear salwar kameez, saris or ghagra choli or dresses that were considered modern in their era. They also prefer the hairstyles of the film heroes and heroines of their era,” says Ankur Patidar of Patidar Studios in MP Nagar.
According to Bunty Chhabra of Aakriti Studio in Bhopal, the details are worked out based on the couples’ bond and their age. “It depends on them. Some are not very comfortable getting emotional in front of the camera, some are,” says Chhabra, who has organised such shoots at Jehan Numa Retreat, Kaliasot Dam and a few private farmhouses in the city. “The cost ranges from Rs 25,000 to Rs 100,000 and it takes a day or two to complete the shoot,” says Chhabra.
Photographer Aqueel Khan, who has organised a number of such shoots, says that the organisation of the shoots depends on the client. “Some prefer to be photographed while travelling or doing everyday tasks. Others prefer more romantic settings,” Khan adds.
