Marlins 4, Twins 1: It’s getting late

Aside from the 2nd inning, Bailey Ober was pretty good tonight, but this inning pretty much killed the Twins’ chances in this game. Jonah Bride got the Marlins on the scoreboard with a solo hit to left with 1 out, then Kyle Slowers struck out. A hit-by-pitch and two singles brought home another run, then Xavier Edwards doubled to make the game 4-0. The rest of Bailey’s start wasn’t perfect, he had to deal with some walks and hits, but he kept us within what you would normally consider striking distance.

The Twins had plenty of chances to come back in this game, leaving two runners on base in the 1st, 2nd, 5th and 8th innings. In the 3rd inning, Royce Lewis hit an RBI single, but Kyle Farmer hit a ground ball that led to a double play that ended the inning. It was another frustrating day at the plate for the Twins, something that has been happening quite frequently in recent weeks.

In the 9th, the Twins lost 1-2-3, giving us a final score of 4-1. The Twins are now 2 games behind the Royals and Tigers and have 5 games left to clinch a wild card spot. Time is running out.

Bolts:

Carlos Correa: 2-5, 2B

Byron Buxton: 2-3, 2B, R

Willy Castro: 2-4

Unexploded bombs:

Bailey Ober: 5.0 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, HBP, 7 K, HR

Kyle Farmer: 0-2, GIDP

The team’s record was 1-9 with runners in scoring position.
