Mark Wahlberg is booked and busy. The actor, who is currently starring alongside Halle Berry in Netflix’s The Uniontalked about one of his next films, Play dirtywhich Shane Black co-wrote and directed.

Speaking to Collider, Wahlberg expressed how excited he was when the audience Play dirty, the upcoming film as a mixture of The Italian job And heat. “For me it is like The Italian job meets heat. There’s action, there’s a lot at stake, there’s humor, there are these great characters, the best dialogue from Shane Black,” hyped Wahlberg and added that he had “waited a long time to get such a script.”

The actor continued: “Every time we talked about it, ‘Okay, what kind of movie do you want to do as an actor if it’s a big, huge commercial movie?’ And Deadly weapon is always there, and some of the other films that Shane has written, so I couldn’t have been happier. Hopefully he was as happy with the experience as I was.”

Produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Play dirty is an adaptation of the 1962 novel, The Hunterwritten by Donald E. Westlake under his pseudonym Richard Stark. It is the first novel to feature the author’s character, the career criminal Parker, who later appeared in 24 of the 28 novels Westlake wrote under the pseudonym Richard Stark. The Hunter was already filmed in 1967 as Point emptystarring Lee Marvin.

In Play dirtyWahlberg’s Parker gets the chance to pull off a major heist in which he must outwit a South American dictator, the New York mafia and the richest man in the world. Filming for the project took place in Sydney Harbour earlier this year. In addition to Wahlberg, the upcoming crime thriller stars LaKeith Stanfield, Rosa Salazar, Dermot Mulroney, Tony Shalhoub, Keegan-Michael Key, Nat Wolff, Chukwudi Iwuji and The Punisher‘s Thomas Jane.

Another upcoming film for Wahlberg, but one that has not yet begun filming, is The Six Billion Dollar Man. An updated version of the popular television series from the 1970s. The Six Million Dollar Manthe reboot has struggled to get out of development since it was first announced in 2014. Despite the production difficulties, Wahlberg is confident the film will still get made, recently noting that it’s the only superhero role he’d like to play on the big screen.

“It’s grounded, plausible and real,” he said earlier this month. “You know, there’s a lot of bionic technology and science out there right now. So this is something that fulfills all the desires of a superhero, incredible things.”
