Mario Twitty, 46, was caught stealing a cell phone near the WeGo Central bus stop on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard on June 9. Clarence Allen reported to officers that he left his cell phone next to his belongings on a bench in the bus stop. Allen stated he left briefly and upon returning found his cell phone missing. Officers conducted a search using the cell phone’s information in their online database. The database showed that the phone had been deposited into an EcoATM at Dollar General on Dr. DB Todd Jr Boulevard.

The phone was turned in the same day, thirty minutes after it was stolen. Twitty was seen on EcoATM’s cameras wearing the same clothing and matching the same description as the suspect who stole the phone. During the transaction, Twitty presented his driver’s license, which police used to identify him. The stolen phone was valued at less than $1,000. An arrest warrant was issued and Twitty was later taken into custody on August 16 for theft of property.

Mario Xavier Twitty, of Lafayette Street in Nashville, Tennessee, was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on August 16 on a charge of theft. A judicial commissioner set his bail at $1,000 and the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office released him from the jail prior to trial.
