Marine from Camp Pendleton missing for over a week

The Marine Corps is seeking information that can help in the search for a Marine who has been missing since last week.

Lance Cpl. Bailey Cameron, 23, disappeared last weekend after a night out. Cameron, who was assigned to a unit at Camp Pendleton, was last seen at around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 25, at the Coyote Bar and Grill in Carlsbad, California.

The next day, his backpack, glasses and cellphone were found at an Italian restaurant a block from the bar where he was last seen and turned over to Carlsbad police, Cameron’s family said.

He was also reported missing from Camp Pendleton on August 25, the Marine Corps confirmed to local news.

According to ABC10 News, Cameron’s family saw a photo of Bailey at a store on Sunday, but it’s unclear why he was there or what condition he was in. The family also shared the photo online. They’re putting up flyers of Cameron online and around town in an effort to locate him.

The military, local police and the Navy Criminal Investigative Service are coordinating the search for Cameron. “We are asking for the public’s help in this case,” Carlsbad police said in a statement.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Carlsbad Police at (442) 339-2197.
