Margaret Qualley lands the role in “Happy Gilmore 2”

Margaret Qualley landed a small role in “Happy Gilmore 2” after her husband Jack Antonoff lied to Adam Sandler about her golf skills.

The Parole Officer actress confirmed on Tuesday night’s “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” that she has a role in the long-awaited sequel to Sandler’s 1996 sports comedy.

“The rumors are true,” she said. “It was the best thing that ever happened to me. It’s a tiny role. I’m basically a deep background, but I can die happy now.”

Qualley then explained how she got the role. A huge fan of Sandler and the original film, she contacted her agents when she heard a sequel was being made.

“I emailed my agent immediately. And I said, ‘Anything it takes. No part is too small. Please! I have to be a part of this. I’m begging you, please, whatever it takes,'” she recalls.

Sandler then texted her husband, a music producer, asking if Qualley played golf, to which Antonoff replied, “Yes, she’s actually good!”

The “Substance” star then confessed that the Bleachers frontman lied about her, saying: “What a good husband. I can’t play golf. He lied for the sake of the family… I’ve never played golf a day in my life. I’m actually terrible.”

The 29-year-old, who married Antonoff last year, said she eventually took some golf lessons but was “still bad.”

Looking back on working with her hero Sandler, Qualley enthused: “He is the best. It was the best thing that ever happened to me.”

Filming on the sequel began earlier this month in New Jersey, where the couple lives. Sandler reprises his title role alongside returning co-stars Christopher McDonald and Julie Bowen. Newcomers include Benny Safdie, Bad Bunny and Travis Kelce.

“Happy Gilmore 2” will premiere on Netflix at some point.
