MIAMI (WSVN) – There was a large police presence in Miami after police received reports of an unconscious man in a vehicle.

City of Miami police units responded to reports of shots fired near Jackson Memorial Hospital in the area of ​​Ninth Avenue and Northwest 17th Street Thursday morning.

According to investigators, officers arrived and found the man unconscious and suffering from a gunshot wound in the back seat of a black Mercedes.

It remains unclear whether the wound was self-inflicted or whether the person was shot.

The man was taken to JMH’s Ryder Trauma Center.

People close to JHM told 7News that the man was popular Cuban reggaeton artist El Taiger.

However, Miami police have not confirmed the man’s identity.

The man’s condition was still unclear as of 5 p.m.

The streets are currently closed on Northwest 17th Street between Eighth Avenue and 10th Avenue as police conduct their investigation. Officials are urging motorists to avoid the area or seek alternative routes.
