For seven years, a man in Japan had no idea how old his true love was. Only when they were about to say “I do” did he find out how old she really was.

The 40-year-old man, Yoshitakamet his future wife Aki in the Japanese bar she ran at the time. They were both divorced and had a lot in common – except their age.

While talking to her, I learned that we both had experiences of failed marriages, raised our children alone, and had many common interests.

Back then, Aki told Yoshitaka that she was 15 years older than him. She made him believe this throughout their relationship because she was afraid that he would no longer fall in love with her after discovering her true age. Despite this, Aki tried to give some hints so that Yoshitaka could find out the truth himself.

I left my passport and insurance card on the table and hoped he would notice.

Since Yoshitaka didn’t understand any of Aki’s hints, she revealed her real age to him on the eve of her wedding. She is not 15 years older than him, but 25 years! That makes Aki 65 years old today.

Fortunately, Yoshitaka took the news very positively. In fact, he was more concerned about Aki’s well-being than about keeping it secret. The two married and have lived happily ever after.

I don’t care what your real age is, it doesn’t matter. What matters is why you didn’t tell me sooner so you don’t have to worry for so long.
