Man confronts his colleague after finding out that she invited the entire department to her wedding – except him
The Reddit user claimed that the bride lied to the rest of her colleagues by claiming that she would not make it, according to the viral post

“Why is she mad? You weren’t invited to the wedding. She faked it was a small wedding and no one from work was invited,” one user wrote about the situation. “If she’s embarrassed, well, don’t lie.”
A man decided to confront his colleague after finding out that she was not on the invitation list for her wedding.
In a recent post on Reddit’s popular “AITA” (Am I The A——?), one user explained that in the 12-person department at his workplace, all of his colleagues were invited to the wedding celebration – except him.
The problem is that the bride told her work colleagues that she had been invited but could not attend due to a scheduling conflict.
“I was personally told that the wedding would be small because they didn’t want to spend too much money. The others were told I couldn’t attend,” he wrote in the now-viral post.

After the bride returned from her honeymoon, the entire group of twelve people were in a department-wide meeting. The Reddit user wrote that the topic of wedding came up in the conversation.
“A colleague said it was a shame I couldn’t attend; I noticed I wasn’t even invited,” he wrote in the post. “I could see the bride’s face visibly change and now she is mad at me and our working relationship is friendly at best.”

“To support this, our department hosted a dinner and celebration for them and I participated in the gift. The date was chosen and changed based on the availability of others, but I was unable to attend due to an overseas trip I had planned last year,” he continued. “There was not even a discussion about changing it so I could attend.”
“So,” he finished his post, asking his fellow Redditors, “AITA, because you clarified that I wasn’t even invited in front of the entire department, who were told I couldn’t attend?”
Although many users were quick to say he was “not the jerk,” some users wondered if some sort of additional context was needed, such as whether he and the bride had ever had an argument or had any other sort of awkward interaction at work.

“No history,” he wrote. “We had a really good working relationship, everyone in the department gets along. No idea why the exclusion.”
“The other coworker (who is her best friend) doesn’t seem to like me and I have no idea why,” he wrote. “I’ve worked with them for four years and they were here together for a few years before that.”

One commentator argued that he was right to come out with the truth sooner rather than later, in case his little lie later grew into something bigger.
“Her wedding, so she can invite whoever she wants. However, if she feels uncomfortable excluding you, that’s her problem, not yours. You are under no obligation to lie for her,” the user wrote. “And it’s probably better to make that clear up front than to have to back out later.”
Another commenter asked, “Why is she mad? You weren’t invited to the wedding. She pretended it was a small wedding and no one from work was invited. If she’s embarrassed – well, don’t lie.”
