Man City learns start date of hearing on 115 charges

The hearing on the 115 charges against Manchester City for breaching financial rules begins on Monday 16 September.

City were originally scheduled to face charges in February 2023, but the lengthy process to prepare for the trial dragged on, causing great frustration among rival fans as both Everton and Nottingham Forest were punished for their own financial misdeeds within weeks.

Some speculative timelines have been suggested, but now numerous reports have confirmed that the hearing in the city will begin on Monday.

The times Note that the process was originally supposed to start in November, but with the desire to find a solution before 2025, it was brought forward by two months.

The hearing is expected to last ten weeks.

City have consistently denied any wrongdoing and vowed to provide evidence to clear their name after staving off a UEFA ban on the club from Europe in 2020 for wider financial misdeeds.

La Liga president Javier Tebas, who has been outspoken about City’s allegations in the past, recently claimed that most Premier League teams were pushing for harsh penalties to be imposed.

“I have spoken to many Premier League clubs and most of them understand that City should be sanctioned,” Tebas claimed.
