On August 8, investigators found that the victim, 40-year-old Guadalupe Garcia Rodriguez, was involved in a dispute with his ex-girlfriend’s father over land in Mexico. After speaking with the woman at a home in Lawrenceville, investigators identified Lopez-Jolon as a suspect and contacted Huntsville police.
Rodriguez’s body was originally found in his truck parked in the 200 block of Paden Cove Trail on July 3. His wife told police she had not seen her husband since he left that morning.
About three weeks later, police released photos and images of a then-unidentified suspect who was seen exiting the truck immediately after the murder.
