Man arrested after being found sitting in sports car in Miami Beach; car owner speaks out – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

MIAMI BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) – The owner of a sports car was stunned to find a stranger sitting in the driver’s seat of his car.

Julio Solano returned to his car in a Miami Beach parking lot on 16th Street on Monday morning.

As he approached his vehicle, he noticed a man who seemed to be sitting very comfortably in his Corvette.

“The shop manager just stared at me. He said something like, ‘Hey, buddy, there’s someone in your car,'” Solano said. “I thought it was all a joke.”

But when he looked through the windshield of his car, he knew it was no joke.

“Suddenly it seemed like someone was hiding in the car,” Solano said. “He showed up and scared the hell out of me.”

Solano then began recording the conversation on his cell phone.

“My brother, that’s not your car, that’s my car,” Solano said in the video posted on social media. “But why are you in my car? No, you can’t get out because we’re calling the police. What do you mean ‘for what?’ This is auto theft! Are you trying to steal my car? What are you doing?”

Solano explained to 7News what he experienced.

“I said, ‘What, what are you doing in my car?'” Solano told 7News. “The gentleman was like, ‘That’s my car,’ and I said, ‘No, that’s not your car. That’s my car.’ This is crazy stuff going on. Let me just record this as evidence. No one is going to believe that someone is sitting in my car and pretending it’s their car.”

Miami Beach police were called to the parking garage while Solano waited outside his car for them to arrive.

Upon arrival, officers ordered the man, identified as 33-year-old Ravesh Rabindranauth, to raise his hands and get out of the car, the police report said.

And although Rabindranauth mistakenly thought it was his car, Solano said he was unable to open the car door due to a door mechanism he did not understand.

“When he broke into the car, he couldn’t get out. Anyway, he was stuck in the car. The car thief was stuck in the car and begged me to let him out,” Solano said.

Police arrested Rabindranauth. He appeared before the bail court on Tuesday.

“Sir, you are arrested for breaking and entering an unoccupied vehicle,” said Judge Mindy S. Glazer.

Glazer saw sufficient suspicion of guilt and set bail for Rabindranauth at $2,500.

Solano told 7News he is still amazed at how Rabindranauth was able to break into his Corvette.

“I was just in shock. To this day, I’m still in shock,” Solano said.

Solano said he was grateful that Rabindranauth was not armed.

Rabindranauth remains behind bars and has not posted bail.
