Mumbai: Anil Arora, father of actress Malaika Arora, was found dead in his residence on Wednesday morning. Though several reports claimed that Anil committed suicide by jumping from the third floor of his apartment, some media reports suggest that it was an accident.
The incident took place around 9 am in Bandra in Mumbai. Malaika’s ex-husband Arbaaz Khan was seen outside her residence after the incident. The actress is on her way back to Mumbai from Pune.
According to media reports, the mortal remains have been shifted to Bhabha Hospital for postmortem. Further details regarding the death are still being ascertained. Police are investigating. Malaika was born in Thane in Maharashtra. Her parents divorced when she was 11 and she moved to Chembur with her mother and sister Amrita Arora. Her mother, Joyce Polycarp, is a Malayali Christian and her father, Anil Arora, was a Punjabi who worked in the Indian Merchant Navy. In a recent interview with a fashion magazine, Malaika spoke about how she was only 11 years old when her parents decided to separate. She had said that while her childhood was “wonderful”, it was “not easy” and “turbulent”. “My parents’ separation enabled me to see my mother with different eyes,” the actress said in the interview.
