CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – A major highway in Charlotte will be closed for hours on Friday, September 6, to accommodate former President Donald Trump’s visit to Charlotte.

Trump will Attend a private event to speak to the National Fraternal Order of Police; For this reason, significant delays are to be expected on Interstate 85 around Charlotte Douglas International Airport from 2:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Traffic will be diverted to alternate routes at times and police urge drivers to plan ahead and avoid the area if possible. Heavy traffic is also expected on the alternate routes.

“Please expect temporary road closures at different times,” The Charlotte-Mecklenburg police wrote.

Friday’s visit will be Trump’s fourth to North Carolina in two months and his second to the Queen City.
