MASSENA – “Movies Under the Stars” returns to downtown Massena Saturday night.
Main Street Movie Night is presented by the Seaway Valley Prevention Council and the Horizons Youth Clubhouse. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire will be shown on the big screen at City Hall.
“Main Street Movie Night is back this summer. Come join us on Saturday, August 10th for a fun, free community event for the whole family,” organizers said.
The film begins around 8:30 p.m., but Main Street between Andrews Street and Orvis Street will be closed for the start of the event at 5:00 p.m. because it is much more than just a film.
“In addition to the movie, we will have food trucks, vendors, entertainment and games, bounce houses and more,” they said. “The City Hall parking lot will not be available for parking. Instead, there will be a bounce house there. Parking is available behind the Horizons Youth Clubhouse in the Massena Municipal Parking Lot on Andrews Street.”
There are plenty of food and other treats to purchase, including hot dogs from I Dream of Wienies, pizza slices, nachos, freeze-dried candies, drinks and desserts from Rosario’s, freeze-dried candies from Frozen Munchies, jam from The Hilltop Homestead, sourdough bread made using traditional techniques and natural ingredients from The River Sourdough, Mexican cuisine from Taco Time, and Divalissa’s Popcorn & Unique Creations.
As for nature, Lena, the lizard lady, and her crew as well as staff from the Nicandri Nature Center will also be there.
“Lena the lizard lady and her team want to surprise and can’t wait to educate. Lena is an expert on everything to do with animals. She brings her little friends of all kinds and shares them with the community so they can enjoy and learn about them,” said the organizers.
Leonard the turtle is expected to be on site to greet visitors at the Nicandri Nature Center booth.
The Salvation Army will also set up a booth on Main Street to talk about their programs.
“They have helped halfway houses, adult rehabilitation centers, schools, hospitals, children’s homes, boys and girls clubs and many others. They have made a real difference in our community,” organizers said.
Other vendors have also announced their participation in the event. For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page at wdt.me/DnHJmR.
