Mack Trucks updates the MD series with new driver-focused features

Mack Trucks has announced a redesign of its Mack MD-Series medium-duty diesel and electric trucks. The trucks now feature a larger cab and enhanced safety features to improve the driver’s work environment.

“The introduction of the redesigned Mack MD Series further demonstrates Mack’s commitment to delivering the best medium-duty truck to our customers,” said Jonathan Randall, president of Mack Trucks North America, in a press release.

The Mack MD Series includes the MD6, a Class 6 model with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 25,995 lb (11,850 kg), and the MD7, a Class 7 model with a gross vehicle weight rating of 33,000 lb (14,400 kg). Both models are available with diesel or electric power.

The company says the updated MD Series now has a four-inch longer cab than the previous version, providing more seat pitch and legroom. Influenced by the Mack Anthem cab, the MD cab features premium satin aluminum trim, upgraded seats with lumbar support, improved LED lighting and a new overhead console for additional storage. The trucks also feature new steering wheel controls for cruise control, phone and audio functions, increasing driver comfort and safety.

Standard safety features now include a new anti-lock brake system with automatic traction control, radio mute in reverse and a parking brake alarm. Mack said in a news release that updates to the wheelbases with industry-standard cab-to-axle dimensions and pre-wired body-manufacturer connections make it easier to equip the MD Series with a variety of body installations.
