Mac Jones makes his Jaguars debut and immediately collapses in defeat

Mac Jones has flourished since being offered a new home when the New England Patriots traded the former first-round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jones had fun showing off his rapping skills and throwing touchdowns in the preseason to secure the backup job behind fellow 2021 draft pick Trevor Lawrence, a situation that has worsened since the regular season, when the Jaguars fell to 0-3 after an embarrassing 47-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Monday night.

Jones eventually replaced Lawrence in the loss and did nothing to improve the Jaguars’ offensive performance. On just his third play of the night, Jones was sacked by Javon Solomon, allowing Buffalo to recover deep in Jacksonville territory and set up another Bills touchdown.

Jones actually scored a possible touchdown, but Jaguars receiver Parker Washington clearly sank it into the end zone a minute before the end of the game.

While it’s a small sample size, Jones may have validated a point the Patriots were making by parting ways with the quarterback they hoped would lead them to greater success in the post-Tom Brady era.
