M-Sport launches WRC documentary series with a look behind the scenes

A new World Rally Championship documentary series will be released later this month, giving fans a rare behind-the-scenes look at M-Sport-Ford’s 2024 campaign.

The series entitled More than a machine “Superlative Films” has produced a six-part documentary in collaboration with team sponsor SafetyCulture that follows the daily lives of M-Sport drivers Adrien Fourmaux and Gregoire Munster as well as the engineers, technicians and other team members during this year’s 13-round WRC season.

The trailer for the series, which will be broadcast on the WRC YouTube channel, was released today. The first episode, which will follow the team’s progress on Safari Rally Kenya, will start on August 22.

Behind-the-scenes sports documentaries have become increasingly popular in recent years, with Formula 1 on Netflix. Drive to survive The series has sparked a number of spin-off series across different sports. This is the first time that the WRC has dabbled in the genre with a major production by an independent filmmaker.

According to M-Sport, one of the main aims of the documentary series is to “bring untold stories to life”. It will focus not only on the drivers, but also on several team members, including co-drivers, weather teams, mechanics and physiotherapists.

“We are very happy to have the opportunity to tell all the incredible stories behind our fantastic team,” said M-Sport team boss Richard Millener.

“There is so much going on behind the scenes in the service park at rallies that fans don’t get to see and I believe this series will go a long way in bringing people even closer to the sport.

“We’re really only scratching the surface, but by telling these stories and getting to know the people who drive the cars and make the rally possible, we’re opening ourselves up to an even wider fan base.

“There are real, human stories to tell here and I’m so glad we can now document them.”

M-Sport founder Malcolm Wilson added: “Until now, the WRC has not delved deeply into the backstories of the people who make it all possible, so the chance to show this to a global audience is really special.

“I hope everyone enjoys following our journeys in the WRC as much as we enjoyed working with the production team.”
