Lost cat travels 800 miles in real-life mystery story ‘Homeward Bound’

A cat was thought to be lost in the wild but was found two months later – over 800 miles away.

This categorically unbelievable story comes from California…via Wyoming.

That’s where Benny and Susanne Anguiano last saw their cat Rayne Beau during a visit to Yellowstone National Park.

“I never told the story on Facebook because it was too traumatic, but now we are ready to tell the story,” she said in a recent Facebook post (see below).

On June 4, Rayne Beau ran away while they were on a camping trip in the park, Susanne tells KSBW Action News in her hometown of Salinas, California.

The Anguianos tried to find Rayne Beau before leaving Yellowstone. They searched the park every day with the help of rangers and other camps, leaving out treats to lure the cat back. But nothing worked.

So they left and Susanne was furious at the thought of abandoning her beloved pet.

Then, 60 days later, they received a message from Pet Watch, a pet tracking service. It was Rayne Beau’s microchip.

The cat was picked up by the SPCA in Roseville, California, 800 miles from Yellowstone, after a woman found her on the street and surrendered her.

“He was really exhausted,” Susanne told KSBW. “He probably didn’t have enough strength to even continue.”

It remains a great mystery how Rayne Beau made it through such a large part of the country to a place about 200 miles from his home in two months.

It was like a story from the classic animal adventure film “Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey” (1993).

The Anguianos hope that by sharing their story, they can find an explanation for Rayne Beau’s remarkable journey.
