The Republic
According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, southbound Loop 101 was closed in Chandler Friday morning due to an accident near Guadalupe Road.
Traffic was diverted from the highway to Guadalupe Road.
ADOT advised drivers to expect delays and seek alternate routes.
As of 7:30 a.m., the agency had no estimate as to when the highway would reopen.
ADOT offers several ways to check whether the roads are clear:
- The Arizona Traveler Information site at az511.gov allows travelers to view routes on a map and see closures that affect travel time.
- The AZ511 mobile app for Apple and Android devices is a smartphone-friendly version of the Arizona Traveler Information site.
- Within Arizona, dialing 511 will call the Arizona Traveler Information hotline, which offers traffic updates. Simply provide the route you are taking and the automated system will respond with information about traffic delays. If 511 does not work from a cell phone, dial 1-888-411-ROAD (7623). If you are outside the United States, dial 1-520-200-0105.
