Longford Text Alert delivers free community alerts direct to your phone. Targeted to your location in County Longford. Longford Text Alert makes it easy to stay up to date with what’s happening in your area – with app alerts, SMS text messages or email alerts from the local text alert groups across the county.

Longford Text Alert is a collaborative project between the Longford Local Community Safety Partnership, Longford County Council, local Text Alert groups and An Garda Síochána. The development of the Longford Text Alert app and website has been funded by Longford County Council and the Department of Rural and Community Development as part of Our Rural Future: Digital Innovation Programme 2021.

The system is designed so that you are not inundated with alerts – you choose the location you want to receive alerts for, whether you are in Lanesboro or Abbeylara, Moyne or Ballymahon or anywhere in between.

It’s free to use, with no subscription or notification fees. You can view your notifications in the app, via SMS and email.
