Lizzo has shown the results of her physical transformation after changing her lifestyle.
The 36-year-old showed off her dramatic weight loss in a before-and-after clip she shared on Instagram – and she insisted she looks “good either way.”
In the “before” clip, Lizzo wears black underwear, highlighting all of her curves, but when the clip switches to “after,” her slimmer physique is clearly visible.
Lizzo revealed that she achieved her new look “after five months of strength training and calorie deficit” and denied claims that she had switched to Ozempic.
Although the “Good as Hell” singer has lost weight, this does not seem to have been the main reason for increasing her training and changing her diet.
In a separate post, she shared an “affirmation of the week” that included a quote emphasizing the importance of “fixing.”
“I chose to make amends over resentment,” it said. “I comfort the child inside me who didn’t get what he needed. I can’t turn back time, but I can change my life so that my well-being is now the focus.”
The singer has always been open about how much she loves her body and often silences critics who claim she needs to lose weight.
In a previous interview with People, she spoke openly about being a “body icon,” telling the magazine, “I think I have a really hot body! I’m a body icon and I’m accepting that more and more every day.”
“It may not be one person’s ideal body type, just as Kim Kardashian, for example, may not be another person’s ideal, but she is a body icon and has created a modern standard of beauty.”
Although Lizzo strives for a positive body image, she admits that the constant conversations about her figure can irritate her.
“Okay, we all know I’m fat,” she added. “I know I’m fat. It doesn’t bother me. I like being fat, and I’m beautiful, and I’m healthy. So can we move on?”
In 2020, Lizzo shared a TikTok video of herself working out with the caption, “Hey. So, I’ve been working out regularly for the past five years and this may come as a surprise to some of you, but I don’t work out to have your ideal body type.”
“I train to have my ideal body type. And do you know what type that is? It’s none of your business. Because I’m beautiful, I’m strong, I do my job and I stick to my job.”
Lizzo’s transformation comes after she announced last month that she was “taking a break and keeping her peace” after a difficult 12 months.
Last August, she was sued by three of her former background dancers – Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez – who accused her of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment.
Lizzo denied all allegations and the trial is ongoing, but this “dark” time inspired her to reorient her life.
Under a recent photo of herself in the gym, she wrote: “One year ago today I was so devastated and defeated that I couldn’t have imagined I would feel this way now.
“This is a message to anyone going through this – don’t let the darkness get the better of you. For everything done in the dark always comes back to the light. I LOVE YOU.”
