Liza Colón-Zayas gave an impressive speech at the 2024 Emmys
Liza Colón-Zayas has just become the first Latina to win the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series!
She won for her incredible portrayal of Tina Marrero in The bearThis award particularly recognized her work in season 2.
At the beginning of her acceptance speech, she thanked her husband, David Zayas, who had told her to write a speech. “I didn’t do it because I didn’t think it was possible,” she admitted.
“And to all the Latinas looking at me? Keep believing.”
“And go vote. Vote for your rights,” she concluded.
What a speech! And to be the first Latina to win that category on the first day of Latin Heritage Month? That’s what I mean!
In the press room, Liza beamed alongside her co-stars Jeremy Allen White and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who won Best Actor in a Comedy Series and Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, respectively.
