France’s Celine Boutier shot 7-under-par 65 to hold a three-stroke lead over the rest of the field before tee times on Thursday. But Switzerland’s Morgane Metraux has launched an attack since the start of the second round to secure first place.

The crowds after Round 1 at Le Golf National outside Paris, especially Boutier’s gallery, left golfers raving about the atmosphere afterward. Americans Nelly Korda, Lilia Vu and Rose Zhang are all in contention for the second round. It’s shaping up to be a memorable event, hot on the heels of a thrilling men’s tournament that saw Scottie Scheffler win a gold medal in the final round.
