Lillia’s White sets return in Hadestown on Broadway

Lillias White will rejoin the society of “Hadestown.” White will reprise the role of Hermes on October 22 at Broadway’s Walter Kerr Theater. She will succeed Stephanie Millswho will make her final appearance in this role on October 20th.

“I am delighted and thrilled to be rejoining this illustrious cast and crew… and what a band!” White said in a statement. “I look forward to seeing all returning visitors to the Walter Kerr Theater.”

A Tony Award winner for her starring role in 1997’s The Life, White previously played Hermes from September 2022 to March 2024. She was the first female actress to take on the role. White’s other main stem credits include appearances in Barnum, two productions of Dreamgirls, Cats, Once on This Island, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Chicago and Fela! “. The latter earned the actor a second Tony nomination.

In addition to Mills, the current main cast of “Hadestown” also includes: Jordan Fisher as Orpheus, Phillip Boykin as Hades, Maia Reficco as Eurydice and Yola as Persephone. As already announcedLana Gordan will join the company on an interim basis as Persephone on October 20; Allison Russell will take on the role on November 12th.

“Hadestown” is a modern adaptation of the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice with a Tony-winning score and a Tony-nominated book by Anaïs Mitchell. The musical premiered on April 17, 2019 and was nominated for 14 Tony Awards, winning eight, including Best Musical.

“Hadestown” is produced by Mara IsaacsDale Franzen, Hunter Arnold and Tom Kirdahy.
