Today will be about 10 degrees cooler than yesterday, to 24 to 27 degrees. This morning it will be clear, but clouds will move in in the afternoon, preceding the expected rain. Lows tonight will be between -1 and 5 degrees.

A low pressure system and cold front are moving into the region today. These systems will bring rain with them this afternoon into the night. The rain will be minimal and light. It doesn’t look like we have much hope for any significant showers or rain showers. The showers will be very isolated, meaning some of us might see some rain on our windshields while others won’t see a drop. So bring a jacket with a hood, but you may not need to use it.

The overall picture of these approaching systems will be one of gusty winds. Everyone will experience gusts of 20-30 mph this afternoon, with some areas possibly getting stronger as the cold front moves through and stirs up the air. There is an active wind advisory north of us. While this does not apply to us, it will still be windy. This is a good reminder if you are planning a trip this afternoon to drive carefully.

These winds will be a concern for our firefighters. The danger is not new fires, but the spread of fires to existing fires that still have pockets of embers and/or are not fully contained. We will be monitoring this closely throughout the afternoon.

The front is followed by dry air, which means we should see sunnier skies tomorrow. Temperatures will stay between 75 and 80 degrees for the rest of the week, even exceeding 70 degrees in some areas.
