Ohio State freshman receiver Jeremiah Smith ensured the No. 3 Buckeyes closed out the first half in style against Michigan State.

On the Buckeyes’ final drive of the half, Smith made two spectacular one-handed grabs, sticking the first ball high and stretching the other forward.

Smith made the first catch by jumping between Spartans defenders Ed Woods and Malik Spencer to catch the ball down the sideline.

Some may wonder why Ohio State quarterback Will Howard went into double coverage, but perhaps he knew the freshman could handle it. The play resulted in a gain of 27 yards.

The second one-hander gave the Buckeyes a touchdown and a 24-7 lead by halftime. Devin Brown took over at QB after Howard took a hard hit from MSU linebacker Jordan Turner and fired a pass down the right sideline on third-and-10 from the Spartans’ 17-yard line.

Smith beat Woods’ block at the line and ran past him to get open and intercept Brown’s pass. Spencer came late from deep to prevent the freshman from scoring a touchdown.

Even NBA superstar — and loyal Ohio State fan — LeBron James had to express his appreciation for the dazzling spectacle Smith put on.

In the first half, Smith made five catches (the other three were conventionally ambidextrous) for 83 yards and a score. He added a rushing touchdown on a 19-yard end-around midway through the second quarter.

So far this season, Smith has 19 receptions for 364 yards and five touchdowns. (He has six total touchdowns, including the rushing score against MSU.)
