Lawyer urges judge to find Dolton’s Tiffany Henyard in contempt of court – NBC Chicago

An attorney representing several trustees on the Dolton Village Board has asked a Cook County judge to hold Mayor Tiffany Henyard in contempt of court for failing to comply with a temporary restraining order.

The injunction was issued last week and prevented three recently appointed Dolton officials from taking office.

Among those appointed was Ronnie Burge Sr., who was appointed by Henyard as the village’s police chief. Henyard’s appointments were not approved by the trustees.

The attorney representing the majority of Dolton’s trustees said Burge was not complying with the injunction and claimed he refused to turn over his keys, badge and uniform to the village’s police department.

The lawsuit also alleges that Henyard interfered with the duties of Keith Freeman, Dolton’s current village manager.

Henyard is at the center of multiple investigations and lawsuits, including an ongoing federal grand jury investigation that began in November 2023. In the latest twist, a Cook County judge ruled that recently hired employees would not be allowed to work at Village Hall because the appointments violated both the Illinois Municipal Code and the Dolton Village Code.
