We expect the other 13 top coaches to hold press conferences on Friday. For the latest information on these 12 teams, see our first team roundup.

WEEK 6 TEAM NEWS: THURSDAY INJURY UPDATES

WEEK 6 TEAM NEWS: THURSDAY PRESS CONFERENCE TIMES

Time in BST

BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION

Joao Pedro is expected to miss the trip to Chelsea due to the injury he sustained as a substitute last weekend.

The fact that the Brazilian was seen on crutches and did not show up for training was not a diversionary tactic, as Fabian Hurzeler confirmed his likely absence in match week 6 in the press conference on Thursday.

“Joao had some problems after the game, he still has some problems. You have to keep going with him week by week, but I don’t think he will be an option at the weekend.

“We have to keep looking, so I’m not sure how long he will be out. I think Joao is a good healer and I’m convinced he will be back soon, but of course we can’t take any risks with this player either. We all know he’s a player who can make the difference for us, but of course we have several other good options. Now we’re trying to replace him as best we can and give him a good rehab, and I’m sure he won’t be out for that long – hopefully.” – Fabian Hurzeler

Elsewhere, Brajan Gruda (unknown injury) could make his first matchday appearance since his transfer in the summer.

Yasin Ayari is also back in the race after an illness.

“Yasin Ayari will be back on the pitch after his illness, but the others will not.

“Brajan was absent for five or six weeks. I think he will be back in the squad soon, maybe this weekend. We will see how quickly he integrates back into the team, how quickly he gets used to the intensity of training and then he might be an option for Saturday.” – Fabian Hurzeler

Matt O’Riley (ankle) is currently Brighton’s only long-term injury.

James Milner (thigh) and one year absence Solly March (knees) are about to make a comeback.

“With Solly, it’s incredible how well he’s adapting. We were all surprised at the shape he’s in. He looks very fit and we now have to make the next decision: what’s the next step for him? Will he maybe play an U21 game? But it’s also important which U21 game he’ll play and what’s best for him. Also where he feels comfortable, because he has to feel comfortable after this long injury so that he can take the next right step. It’s important to go step by step and not take two or three steps at once.” – Fabian Hurzeler about Solly March

EVERTON

Everton’s absentee list is likely to shorten even further for Gameweek 6.

Jarrad Branthwaite (bar) and Nathan Patterson (thigh) both played for the U21s on Sunday to build up their match fitness, with Branthwaite the furthest along in his recovery.

Vitaly Mykolenko has also recovered from an illness.

Idrissa Gana Gueye Meanwhile, he only missed the draw against Leicester City for personal reasons and is back in Merseyside, albeit with limited training.

Seamus Coleman (Ankle), Youssef Chermiti (foot) and Armando Broja (Foot) stays out for the Toffees.

“Jarrad is definitely in the running. He played a game last week and did a lot of background work in addition to the game itself, so he looks and feels stronger.

“Yes, Jarrad is definitely a step ahead compared to Patto. Patto had a much longer time off and a pretty serious injury – he’s doing very well at the moment but the recovery time is longer.

“Unfortunately, Gana lost his father and was in Senegal. So he had a long time – seven days – without training and has only just returned.

“Myko is fine again, so that’s good.

“Seamus is a little bit longer, Broja is a little bit longer and Youssef is a little bit longer too.” – Sean Dyche

NOTTINGHAM FOREST

Nuno Espirito Santo’s team news update was short this week.

“No (new concerns), basically the same thing.” – Nuno Espirito Santo

Nottingham Forest has Daniel (ankle) and Ibrahima Sangare (thigh) long-term failure.

Morgan Gibbs-White is also suspended for one game due to his red card in matchweek 5.

Willy Boley (Wade) was said to be “close” to recovering before the game against Brighton last week, so it remains to be seen whether Nuno’s above quote also includes Boly’s unavailability.

WEST HAM UNITED

The Hammers will be missed Edson Alvarez after being sent off for two yellow-card offences in Wednesday’s cup defeat at Anfield.

There are still doubts about Niclas Fullkrug (Achilles tendon/calf). The German, who has been out since the international break in September, took part in training again this week.

But after missing the EFL Cup clash with Liverpool, Fullkrug remains a big question mark for Gameweek 6.

“Fullkrug is not available yet, so let’s see what happens today and tomorrow.

“I don’t know. We thought he would be available this week, but unfortunately he wasn’t. So we have to wait until this afternoon and tomorrow. At the moment he’s out.” – Julen Lopetegui

As for new concerns, Lopetegui said it was too early to judge anyone based on last night’s game.

“I don’t know, we’re not training at the moment. We’ll see each other again in two hours and assess how they are.” – Julen Lopetegui on new concerns from midweek

LEICESTER CITY

Patson Daka (ankle) and Jakub Stolarczyk (ankle) is still out for Leicester.

Steve Cooper announced after the penalty shootout victory against Walsall on Tuesday that Jannik Vestergaard (ankle) is currently injured – and the Leicester boss confirmed in the press conference on Thursday that the defender is not yet fit for the trip to Arsenal.

Otherwise, Cooper only reported “bumps and bruises” from the EFL Cup game during the week.

SOUTHAMPTON

Gavin Bazunu (Achilles) is out for the Saints long-term, the Jack Stephens suspended for the third and final time.

The trip to Bournemouth also comes too early for Will Smallbone (thigh) and Kamaldeen Sulemana (Ankle).

“We don’t have anyone back that we didn’t expect. Kamaldeen will be a little while away from being with us. (Will) Out for another week or two. Maybe after the international break or maybe for the Arsenal game, but not this week.” – Russell Martin
