KYTC plans several nightly ramp closures starting Sunday for re-marking work | News

PADUCAH — A Kentucky Transportation Cabinet contractor will begin the final phase of a project that began with the installation of more than 100 “Wrong Way,” “No Entry,” “One Way” and “Stop” signs at exits on Interstate 24, Interstate 69, Purchase Parkway and U.S. 68. The final phase includes re-marking stop signs at each exit beginning Sunday, Aug. 25.

According to KYTC, stop signs are thick white lines at intersections that indicate the correct stopping point. The project is designed to prevent drivers from turning the wrong way on interstate and parkway ramps. The ramp closures are scheduled from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. every night from August 25 to September 5. Each ramp is expected to be closed for about 30 minutes for the work.

No work is planned for Labor Day weekend, August 30-September 2, or Wednesday, September 4. The re-stripping will begin at Exit 3 on I-24 in Paducah and continue outward to all ramps, according to KYTC.

Ramps included in the project are:

  • Purchase Parkway exits 0, 1, 2 and 14.
  • I-69: Exits 21, 22, 24, 25, 27, 43, 47 and 71.
  • I-24: Exits 3, 4, 7, 11, 16, 27, 40, 45 and 65.
  • US 68 at KY 453 (The Trace Road) in the Land Between the Lakes.

The project includes exits in both directions of the roadway, KYTC said.
