Kristin Cavallari defends publishing her son Camden’s face on Instagram

Kristin Cavallari relaxes some of her social media rules with her eldest child, Camden.

Over Labor Day weekend, the founder of Uncommon James explained why she finally decided to show her 12-year-old son’s face in Instagram photos.

“OK I appreciate everyone DMing me and telling me I showed Camden’s face I know,” Cavallari, 37, wrote on her Instagram Story on Monday, September 2. “He’s a little older now and wants to be on social media, that’s the only reason I showed him.”

In recent years, Cavallari – who also shares Jaxon, 10, and Saylor, 8, with her ex-husband Jay Cutler – has decided to keep her children’s faces off social media.

Instead, she typically obscured their faces with unique photo angles or placed funny objects, such as balloons, in front of their bodies.

“Every year it gets harder to find creative ways to hide their faces so I can post a photo on their birthday,” Cavallari wrote on Instagram back in 2022. “(Yes, I realize many of you don’t understand this – I want my children to decide for themselves to be present on social media, not for me to do it for them.)”

In her most recent social media post, Cavallari reiterated her intention to keep her three children out of the spotlight.

“The only reason I haven’t shown my kids is because I wanted to give them the choice when they get older, and he’s 12 and soon to be 28, so he’s mature enough to make that decision now,” Cavallari explained in her latest post. “But I’m thankful everyone is paying attention.”

Over the long holiday weekend, the mother-son duo had fun in the kitchen and tried to get into the fall spirit by preparing a pumpkin spice recipe.

“Camden just asked if we had pumpkin spice syrup, and I said, ‘No, but I’ll make it,'” Cavallari said before her oldest son appeared in the frame smiling with some ingredients. “It’s way healthier than that shit at Starbucks.”

Camden took over as sous chef and the two managed to create a delicious Pumpkin Spice Latte.

Last year, Cavallari admitted that her son was getting older and wiser as she celebrated his birthday. But while sharing a throwback photo with her eldest child, The hills The star has decided not to show her child’s entire face.

“Watching you grow into the most incredible young man is such a gift,” she wrote on Instagram in August 2023. “You are pure love and light and I am grateful for you every day. Also, this picture makes me cry because you are no longer my little boy but a full grown man (with a heart of gold). Keep shining angel.”
