Kirk Herbstreit chooses South Florida as his superdog against Miami

In their Superdog segment on Saturday on ESPN College Gameday, chief analyst Kirk Herbrstreit gave South Florida a minus-17 rating. Miami enters Saturday’s game against South Florida with a 2-1 point differential this season. Miami has been successful against Florida and Ball State, but not against Florida A&M.

South Florida was the favorite against Bethune-Cookman and Southern Mississippi. South Florida lost 42-16 as a 30.5-point underdog at Alabama. The Crimson Tide scored 21 points in the final six minutes of the game to turn the lead into a sweeping victory.

FanDuel lists Miami at minus-900 and South Florida at plus-590 on the money line. The over/under for Miami at South Florida is minus-64.5. All three of Miami’s games this season have reached the over. The under came in the first two South Florida games and the over was reached last week against Southern Mississippi.

Herbstreit will join Miami resident Chris Fowler and sideline reporter Holly Rowe for ABC’s Tennessee-Oklahoma game, which begins at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Bob Wischusen will provide game commentary, Louis Riddick will be the analyst and Kris Budden will be the sideline reporter for Miami-South Florida, which begins at 7 p.m.

The ESPN Football Power Index projects Miami to have an 85.4 percent chance of defeating South Florida. Miami is the favorite in every game remaining this season, according to the FPI. South Florida should be a contender in the American Athletic Conference after realignment.

If Louisville and Miami keep winning, Fowler, Herbstreit and Rowe could play for the Hurricanes at the Cardinals on Oct. 19. Louisville is up 2-0 after a bye last week. Georgia Tech plays at Louisville on Saturday afternoon. Louisville also plays Notre Dame, SMU and Virginia before Miami.
