Kirby Smart is completely impressed by Alabama’s young prodigy

The magic of Ryan Williams has enchanted everyone; Georgia’s Kirby Smart included.

Despite being a longtime rival at heart, Kirby Smart didn’t let his pride get in the way of recognizing some truly outstanding Alabama talent.

While he knows all too well that this talent will be the one they face in the epic rivalry battle this Saturday, Smart pushed that concern aside as he praised the standout freshman WR.

“I don’t think he’s very scared or nervous.” Smart said of Williams off Alabama-Georgia. “He’s not one of those people who thinks the moment is too big for him. He naturally jumped right in and made good plays in every game.”

“They have a lot of really good players off the edge, and I think Jalen uses his skills well to get them the ball,” Smart concluded, appreciating how the QB and WR do their jobs in perfect sync.

Kirby Smart believes Williams will restore Alabama’s elite WR reputation

Smart also believed Williams would help restore Alabama’s reputation of having the best WR room.

“He’s in line with the guys they’ve had in the past,” Smart said. “Super fast, talented, confident with the ball, great ball skills, great speed.”

“He’s a track and field athlete who was among the elite as a junior, and then he comes out and is already performing at his best.”

However, Smart puts Williams in the same circle as DeVonta Smith and Julio Jones – the Bama alumni who are now the NFL’s top receivers.

Since leaving Bama, there has been a lack of such top talent. Williams has high expectations of becoming Alabama’s receiver talent.

Since the WR has already amassed 285 receiving yards and 10 catches with four touchdowns in just three games this season, there are high expectations for him.

Will all of this be too much for a rookie who is only 17 years old to destroy the WR? Or is it the strengthening of his wings that allows him to fly higher?

The answer will be shown in full on Saturday evening.
