Kim Kardashian signs first-look deal with 20th TV

For Kim Kardashian, her “sensitive” behavior toward Ryan Murphy has definitely paid off. The actress and reality TV star is deepening her relationship with studio 20th Television as part of a new first-look deal – her first for scripted work.

Kim K. already has “The Kardashians” on Hulu (owned by Disney, which owns 20th) in its fifth season and has broken into (real) acting with Murphy’s “American Horror Story: Delicate,” a 20th television production. She will star in Murphy’s upcoming legal drama “All’s Fair,” also on 20th.

Now the studio can give her a parking space. Under the multi-year deal, Kardashian will develop projects that include dramas, comedies and miniseries.

Her first project under the deal is a collaboration with “Black-ish” creator Kenya Barris called “Group Chat.” It’s currently in development for Hulu and is based on the NYT bestseller “The Love Playbook: Rules for Love, Sex, and Happiness” by author La La Anthony.

Anthony will star in the series and executive produce it. “Group Chat” was created and produced by Barris and his Khalabo Ink Society, and Kardashian will also executive produce the project. Adam Kassan serves as executive producer on behalf of Khalabo Ink Society. “Group Chat” is a co-production between 20th TV and BET Studios.

“I am incredibly passionate about telling stories that are personal, complicated and relevant, and based on my own and intimate experiences,” Kardashian said in a statement. “I had the privilege of working with the extraordinary team at 20th Television on American Horror Story: Delicate and I am so excited to dive into developing my first wave of television projects with the team led by Karey Burke and Eric Schrier, and to continue working with Craig Erwich and his entire group at Hulu and Disney.”

“Delicate” was the twelfth and latest installment in the horror story anthology “AHS”; Kardashian starred alongside Emma Roberts in a version of the story “Rosemary’s Baby.”

“Kim is a multi-talented artist in the truest sense of the word, both in tune with the times and shaping them. Her success on television with our teams – from ‘The Kardashians’ to ‘American Horror Story: Delicate’ – coupled with her ability to capture the imagination of millions, puts her in a unique position to develop and produce stories that will undoubtedly permeate the culture,” said Karey Burke, President of 20th Television, and Craig Erwich, President of Disney Television Group.

Anthony currently stars in “BMF” on Starz and “The Chi,” and was most recently seen in “The Bad Guardian” with Melissa Joan Hart. Her 2015 book, “The Love Playbook,” climbed to #1 on the New York Times bestseller list, and was followed by a second book, “The Power Playbook.”

Barris most recently directed “Diarra From Detroit” for BET+ and “The Vince Staples Show” for Netflix.
