The Office of Financial Affairs has established an award for financial innovators, the Financial Affairs Service and Innovation Award (FASI). This award honors those within the University who make significant and lasting contributions to the University through bold, innovative and creative approaches to common, everyday University problems.

The award is open to any university employee, non-faculty, academic, administrative or skilled trades/service/maintenance staff who contribute new ideas that result in process improvements, cost savings and/or productivity improvements. Each quarter, one employee is selected to receive the award and at the end of the calendar year, an annual award winner is chosen from the four quarterly winners.

We are pleased to announce the winner of the award for Q2 2024:

Kim Gillow, Director of Scholarship and Gift Administration at Fulbright College

Gillow has served in a variety of capacities in her 18+ years at the university. In her current position as Director of Scholarship and Gift Administration for the Fulbright College, Gillow oversees the financial management of all scholarships and gifts for one of the university’s largest and most diverse academic units on campus. She provides timely and accurate reports to the finance department and assists the central finance department in testing custom reports before they are rolled out across the campus. Her detailed feedback has helped the finance department function better.

Simon Chua, Associate Dean for Administration and Planning at Fulbright College, said, “Kim’s innovative approach and dedication to streamlining processes within our Grants and Gifts Management team have truly made a difference. Her ability to effectively manage complex grant-related issues while continually seeking ways to improve efficiency has set a new standard of excellence in our financial operations. Her innovative spirit and tireless commitment to improving our processes have not only enhanced our team’s performance, but also ensured that we remain at the forefront of financial excellence. This well-deserved recognition is a testament to her hard work, creativity and leadership.”

Gillow, who holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the U of A, is more than deserving of the Financial Affairs Service and Innovation Award. Her service, expertise and hard work have made a huge impact on the entire university. Please join us in congratulating her on this well-deserved recognition!

If you know of a staff member who deserves recognition for our next FASI Award, we would love to hear about them. Please email your FASI nominations to Ann Gearity at [email protected].
