Kevin Hart called JK Simmons and hung up just to prove to Seth Meyers that he had worked with the “Red One” star before.

During the bar segment of the late night host’s “Seth & Kevin Go Day Drinking,” Meyers told Hart that he would show the comedian a number of actors and then Hart would have to tell him whether or not he had worked with them.

Noting that Hart has worked on “over 100 projects” (Meyers joked that their computers crashed after he pulled up the actor’s IMDb page), the host went through several Hollywood stars, including Denzel Washington, Jennifer Aniston and Luke Wilson, until he finally found a picture of JK Simmons.

Before mistakenly identifying him with Richard Jenkins, who was pictured next to Simmons’ photo, Hart said he was sure he and Simmons had been on set together, but it was for a film that had yet to be released or announced – a sequel to his “Die Hart” series.

“‘Die Hard’! JK and I recently did ‘Die Hard 3,'” Hart exclaimed, believing he had answered correctly.

“They haven’t worked with either of them,” Meyers said of both actors.

“I did! ‘Die Hard 3’! Bet?!” Hart replied.

“Okay, by the way, I’ll bet you! And you know what? Guess what the bet is. If you’re right, I’ll kill one of the writers. Check that again!” Meyers replied.

“OK, I bet that’s for sure,” Hart yelled. “JK Simmons and I just finished filming Die Hart 3. The trilogy.”

“Wait, did it come out?” asked Meyers.

“You didn’t ask me that,” Hart said.

“I’m going to call JK right now,” Hart said later. “All right, are you ready? This will be a quick call. I don’t want to be in production long. Let’s get this over with right now. All right… JK”

After swinging over to the production team to verify the facts, Hart finally called Simmons.

“What’s up?” Simmons is heard saying on the phone.

“I’ll call you back,” Hart said, quickly ending the call.

Everyone laughed together.

“I mean, you wouldn’t do that to someone you haven’t worked with,” Meyers said.

“Would I do that to anyone but JK? My goodness,” Hart said. “The only reason I’m going to toast to that is because hard work tastes different. And boy oh boy, do you really work hard. And your journey here is what I’m celebrating. Well done, Seth.”
