Kendrick Lamar releases first song since the feud between “Not Like Us” and Drake

The “Not Like Us” rapper previously performed during the 2022 Super Bowl halftime show alongside a star-studded lineup.
Kendrick Lamar has released his first song since the anthem “Not Like Us” effectively ended his feud with Drake and capped one of the most culturally influential rap feuds of all time.
The untitled track appeared on Lamar’s Instagram page just before 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday. As of 10 p.m. ET, it was no longer available on streaming services.
The track makes several references to the feud, including in the opening lines when Lamar says, “This (swear word) has gotten too bad to apologize. It’s something else, let’s beat him up and disqualify him.”
Drake is never explicitly mentioned, but is an uncredited character in the narrative, vacillating between hedonism, spirituality, and rejection of the trappings of fame.
DJ Akademiks also pointed out
Failing to extinguish the flames of conflict, Lamar appears to reference streamer and well-known Drake supporter Livingston Allen, stage name DJ Akademiks, saying, “The radio personality push propaganda for pay / Let me know if they come up as a victim.”
The new track is a sharp contrast to the bombastic vibe of Lamar’s last performance, which found the Compton rapper brooding over a mid-tempo soul beat.
The new song could indicate that a new project is in the pipeline. Lamar has traditionally released additions to “The Heart” series before a new album. Drake titled his latest salvo in the feud “The Heart Pt. 6,” which is widely seen as his white flag in the dispute.
The release comes three days after Lamar was selected to headline Super Bowl LIX and, the same night, “Not Like Us” was nominated for Song of the Year at the MTV Video Music Awards.
