Kelly Osbourne speaks openly about her history of drug and alcohol abuse, which began in her teenage years.
The daughter of rock legend Ozzy Osbourne admitted that her first stay in rehab was more about helping her get through withdrawal than giving her the opportunity to get drugs for the rest of her life.
“The first rehab I went to was like a university where I learned how to be a better drug addict,” Osbourne claimed on an episode of “TMZ Investigates: Matthew Perry & The Secret Celebrity Drug Ring.”

“I learned so many tricks from the other addicts there, so many things I would never have thought of.”
She added: “I’ve also seen people threaten to leave until they get what they want, whether it was Ambien to help them sleep or Valium for their nerves – in the end they got it.”
“The first rehab I attended was like a university where I learned how to become a better drug addict.”
Osbourne’s journey with addiction began at age 13 after she was prescribed opioids following routine surgery to remove her tonsils.

Her addiction problems worsened over the years as her family was featured in one of the first reality TV shows, The Osbournes. She attempted rehab for the first time when she was 19.
The Osbournes became household names in the early 2000s when MTV shone a light on their lives as famous stars – and children of rock stars – with a reality show about the family. The series premiered in 2002 and ran for four seasons, ending its run in 2005. (Dave Hogan)
Osbourne, 39, has tried to enter rehab seven times over the years. She remembers leaving meetings and seeing “body brokers” waiting outside for defenseless addicts to push them back into the cycle of addiction.

“They sit outside AA meetings and look for weak and vulnerable people who they encourage to relapse so they can then get them back on their feet,” she said.
“I learned so many tricks from the other addicts there, so many things I would never have thought of.”
“I swear on everything it’s true and it’s heartbreaking.”

The former “Fashion Police” presenter suffered a relapse in 2021 after four years of abstinence.
“It’s a little hard for me to talk about this, but I always promised you that I would always be honest with you about where I am and what’s happening on my road to recovery,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “I had a relapse. I’m not proud of it. But I’m back on the right track.”

She had previously spoken during an appearance on “Red Table Talk” about how Vicodin was her gateway drug into addiction.
“I felt like every voice in my head was saying, ‘You’re fat, you’re ugly, you’re not good enough, nobody likes you, you don’t deserve this, people only like you because your parents are like you.’ And then suddenly every single voice was silent and it felt like life had embraced me,” she said.
When the opioids stopped working, she switched to heroin.

“I thought, ‘Why am I so confident about all this?’ And then I very quickly switched from Vicodin to Percocet, and eventually from Percocet to heroin because it was cheaper,” she said.
Osbourne has remained sober since then and had a son with Slipknot frontman Sid Wilson in May 2022.
