Katie Santry finds mysterious carpet buried in backyard. TikTok Is Going Viral: Here’s Why

A woman and her boyfriend Brandon found a carpet buried under a tree while digging in their backyard this week. The police are now investigating as there is speculation online that it may be a body.

Katie Santry, a local content creator, took to her TikTok after finding a rug while digging holes to build a fence in her Columbus, Ohio, backyard. It followed a mysterious path full of questions that continued to unfold.

Santry posted several TikTok videos questioning the carpet, which appeared to be buried over “2 feet deep and possibly 6 feet long.” Santry and her friend tried to dig it up, but it was “too packed” and a tree had grown over it. (They found a tree identification tag while digging – Bloodgood.)

In a series of TikTok videos and requests from viewers who wanted to know more… Santry called the police.

  • The police came initially, but claimed they had no means or reason to dig and left

  • Santry and her TikTok audience decided to keep digging with more help, but to no avail

  • Homicide detectives took action and decided to come with cadaver dogs

  • On Thursday, in a live video, two cadaver dogs separately approached the excavated area and “sat down,” resulting in Santry’s home being taped off with yellow police tape.

  • On Friday, in another live broadcast, Santry describes the scene with over nine police officers and CSIs with equipment investigating the area.

According to news reports, an investigation by Columbus police and detectives is ongoing Friday morning in the 800 block of Cummington Road.
