Katie Holmes mourns the death of her “Dawson’s Creek” co-star Obi Ndefo

Katie Holmes pays tribute to her late Dawson’s Creek: The mysterious setting Co-star Obi Ndefo, after his sister Nkem announced on Facebook on Saturday that her brother had died. He was 51.

Over the weekend, according to PEOPLE, Holmes offered her condolences in a caption to her Instagram story, which has since expired. “He was wonderful to work with and such a kind man. Sending prayers and gratitude to his family. Rest in peace,” Holmes wrote under a screenshot photo of a tribute video first shared by a colleague. Dawson’s with Mary-Margaret Humes as the star.

Humes, who played Dawson’s mother Gale Leery in the teen drama, wrote in her obituary on Saturday: “These words do not come easy for me. I find it difficult to comprehend that you have left us, my dear friend. You were and will always be a shining light. What an example of pure, unfiltered love and perseverance you have been as you have faced life’s challenges of late.” Humes’ film also included several photos and videos of Obi on the set of the show.

Humes concluded: “I will cherish all our expressions of love and messages of support for each other over the years. Rest in peace, sweet warrior.”

Nkem did not provide any details about her brother’s death in her post, which included an old photo of herself and Obi smiling. “I am heartbroken over the loss of my younger brother and know he has finally found peace,” Nkem wrote.

According to the Los Angeles TimesObi had to have both legs amputated in 2019 following a tragic hit-and-run accident. According to the report, the actor was loading groceries into his car when a drunk driver hit him from behind, causing injuries so severe that both legs had to be amputated.

When Dawson’s Creek: The mysterious setting In his 1998 debut, Obi played Bodie, a chef who partnered with Humes’ character to run the Capeside seafood bistro Leery’s Fresh Fish. He was also the boyfriend of Bessie Potter (Nina Repeta), the older sister of Holmes’ iconic character Joey Potter. Obi was also known for roles in The Jamie Foxx Show, Just behind the moon, Angel, Star Trek: Voyager, NYPD Blue, The west wing, And Stargate SG-1.

Dawson’s Creek: The mysterious settingwhich also starred James Van Der Beek, Michelle Williams and Joshua Jackson, ran for six seasons, from January 1998 to May 2003, on The WB.
