Kate Winslet will star in a new Hulu series by author Ed Solomon and A24. The series, titled “The Spot,” was ordered directly as a series by the streamer.
The official logline reads: “When a successful surgeon (Winslet) and her teacher husband suspect she may be responsible for a child’s fatal hit-and-run, their search for the truth becomes entangled in a web of growing suspicion and dark secrets. Their resolve and their relationship are tested as they are confronted with the possibility of hidden guilt and betrayal.”
Solomon serves as writer, executive producer and showrunner of The Spot. Winslet will executive produce in addition to starring under her banner Juggle Productions. A24 is the lead studio on the co-production with 20th Television.
Winslet has been a force to be reckoned with on television in recent years. Most recently, she starred in the HBO miniseries “The Regime.” She previously starred in the HBO miniseries “Mare of Easttown,” for which she won the Emmy Award for Best Actress in a Miniseries. She won in the same category in 2011 for the HBO series “Mildred Pierce.” She will return to HBO for the miniseries “Trust,” which is currently in production. Winslet is also known for her seven Academy Award nominations, including for films such as “Titanic,” “Iris,” and “Little Children.” She won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2009 for her work in the film “The Reader.”
She is represented in the UK by CAA and United Agents.
Solomon most recently worked with Steven Soderbergh on the Max miniseries “Full Circle.” The two previously worked together on the film “No Sudden Move” and the HBO series “Mosaic.” Solomon has also written hit films such as “Men in Black,” the “Bill & Ted” films with Chris Matheson, and the “Now You See Me” films. He is represented by CAA.
