It rained on the first day of the ongoing second Test between India and Bangladesh. Will it rain again in Kanpur on the second day?

There were only 35 overs on the first day of the ongoing second Test match between India and Bangladesh as the match was abandoned due to rain in Kanpur on Friday. On the first day, India won the toss and Rohit Sharma chose to bowl. It proved to be the right decision as Akash Deep removed opener Zakir Hasan for a 24-ball duck.

The pacer struck again to remove Zakir’s opening partner Shadman Islam, who made 24 runs off 36 balls. R Ashwin, who was player of the match in the first Test, built on his strong form to defeat Najmul Hossain Shanto. Bangladesh reached 107/3 in 35 overs before play was abandoned with Mominul Haque (40*) and Mushfiqur Rahim (6*) remaining unbeaten.

According to Accuweather, it will rain again on the second day and a thunderstorm is expected in some parts of Kanpur. The temperature is expected to be around 31 degrees Celsius and the chance of precipitation is 80 percent.

In the afternoon, a temperature of around 31 degrees Celsius and a 55 percent chance of precipitation are expected. Cloud cover will also increase.

The hosts won the first Test by 280 runs and had many positives. In the first innings, R Ashwin got a century and hit 113 runs off 133 balls. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja hit 86 off 124 balls. In the bowling department, Jasprit Bumrah opted for a four-wicket haul.

In the second innings, Shubman Gill (119*) and Rishabh Pant (109) scored heavily. On the other hand, Ashwin managed a six-wicket haul. Despite all the positives, the scanner was once again on Virat Kohli, who was in poor form. He has not been in good form in Tests recently, scoring just two fifties and two hundreds since 2023. Meanwhile, Kohli was dismissed for six off six balls in the first innings of the Chennai Test against Bangladesh. He then walked away with 17 off 37 balls in the second over.
