Kamala Harris tells MSNBC working at McDonald’s was ‘no small job’: ‘I made the fries’

Vice President Kamala Harris told MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle that her job at McDonald’s is “not a small job.” Harris added, “I made the fries,” before the two began a discussion about why the Democratic presidential candidate even brought up her career at McDonald’s on the campaign trail.

“One of the reasons I even talk about working at McDonald’s is because there are people in our country who work at McDonald’s and are trying to raise a family – I worked there as a student, I was a child – who were trying to raise a family there, raising families and paying rent to do it,” Harris added. “And I think part of the difference between me and my opponent is our view of the needs of the American people and our responsibility to meet those needs.”

As Ruhle noted, Donald Trump has falsely accused Harris of lying about working there, most recently on a Tuesday evening Campaign rally in North Carolina. These claims are part of a broader effort by right-wingers to spread the lie that Harris never worked at McDonald’s.

Of course, she actually worked for one in Oakland, California in the summer of 1983 while she was still a student at Howard University. But four years later, while in law school, she didn’t mention McDonald’s on her resume when she applied for a job as a clerk in the Alameda County district attorney’s office.

No, really, these people want you to think it’s suspicious that someone applying for a legal job didn’t mention irrelevant fast food work years ago. That’s literally everything.

You can watch the excerpt from Ruhle’s interview with Vice President Harris in the video above.
